About Robin

I'm Robin, an experienced DBA and IS Analyst with over 20 years working as a consultant and in local government.

I'm passionate about working with databases but not about talking up myself. But I'll try and give an accurate idea of what I have to offer and what I'm really looking for. It takes a lot of effort on all sides to find the right person for the job, and the more you can know beforehand the better the outcome.

What can I offer?

The breadth of my work, which you can see in the resume, has allowed me to gain skills from database design, SQL programming, ETL, performance tuning through to C# programming of ASP.NET web apps. While it is not possible to be knowledgable about every script, language and framework, I have learned to find what I need to complete a task, or improve a job.


SQL Server DBA and development experience, (20+ years)

Additional DB2 and PostgreSQL, Access experience.

Advanced SQL development skills, creating complex queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.

Performance tuning complex queries and query optimization.

Database engine optimization.

Experience in creating business process database schemas.

Ability to transform messy data into organized tables and structures.

Configure and run SQL Server on Windows and Ubuntu servers.

Configure and run PostgreSQL on Ubuntu servers in Azure.

Configure and run IIS web services on Azure VMs.

Automated maintenance jobs, ETL tasks.

Azure cloud migrations of SQL Server and business websites.


SQL Server Proficiency with BI development tools (SSRS, SSIS)

Proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and pgAdmin.

Experience using Azure DevOps tools.

Microsoft Visual Studio


T-SQL, pgSQL, C#, Powershell


Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact at all levels.

What am I looking for?

Flexible remote work hours to keep your SQL database servers secure and humming with activity. Performance tuning and analysis of current and potential issues which cause slowdown of data flow.

You live in Spain yet you want to work in the US, is that possible?
Yes, I believe so. I worked in California for 12 years and then for a California entity while resident 5 years in Asia. Remote work worked well. All compensation was paid in the US.
